Asobi Seksu
Brooklyn’s Asobi Seksu is still fresh off the release of its third LP Hush, which has been receiving rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The band bears comparison both to the British shoegazer bands of the early '90s (My Bloody Valentine in particular) and to New York guitar noise acts ranging from Sonic Youth to Yo La Tengo. They recently performed on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, KEXP, and this summer hosted MTV2’s Subterranean. In September they will hit the road again for a full US tour with Loney Dear, and then head to the UK for a tour with White Lies.
Recently Asobi Seksu recorded an acoustic album at the legendary Olympic Studios in London. They were one of the last bands ever to record at Olympic, famous throughout the years for recordings made there by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Zombies, U2 and many others, before closing its doors in February 2009. This acoustic LP will be released in November on Polyvinyl Records.
A special one time engagement for Joe’s Pub will celebrate this upcoming release and see the band perform the acoustic album in its entirety. It will be a magical evening not to be missed.
