Andy Suzuki & The Method
Joe's Pub

On Saturday, July 31st, Joe's Pub proudly presents Andy Suzuki & The Method for their first headlining show at the Public Theater. This live show marks the trio's only NYC show of 2010. Their unique take on acoustic-pop is perfect for this intimate, storied, venue.

Suzuki grew up in Washington DC, raised by his Japanese father and Jewish mother. He spent his teenage years trying to emulate his heroes - Usher, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight - developing a smooth hint of RnB to his voice at a young age. He was convinced that this was the kind of music he wanted to create. Everything changed when he got his hands on some live recordings of, Joe's Pub alum, Jason Mraz, and John Mayer in their early, acoustic coffeehouse days. These rough recordings inspired Suzuki to start learning to play the piano.

Suzuki began writing songs his freshman year at Brown University. He soon expanded his sound by linking up with percussionist Kozza Babumba (grandson of Grammy Award winner Babatunde Olatunji) & electric violinist Jason G (also grandson of someone awesome, probably). The three eventually became known as "Andy Suzuki & The Method."

The trio independently released their 13 track debut album, '300 Pianos' in the Spring of 2009. Since then, the group has opened for such notable artists as Eric Hutchinson and Morley, and have been playing at colleges, clubs, and coffeehouses up and down the east coast.
